Pastels and Watercolor Workshop - Building on Foundational Skills

Join us for another inspiring 3-hour workshop with Mary Jane Erard!
Mary Jane is an accomplished artist and educator from the Toledo area, and we’re thrilled to welcome her back to the studio!
This workshop is perfect for students who previously attended Mary Jane’s Impressionistic Landscape Workshop or anyone who wishes to further develop their skills in both watercolor and pastels. Topics will include:
- Composing a strong painting
- Basic color theory
- Underpainting and underdrawing
- Wet painting techniques with pastels
- Using a variety of strokes to build texture and depth
- Exploring sky, land, and water
- Basic framing instruction
This workshop is ideal for students with some experience in pastels and/or watercolor who want to enhance their techniques.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own reference photos if there’s a particular scene they’d like to paint, or choose from a selection of images provided by the instructor. Everyone will have the opportunity to complete a finished painting. All supplies will be provided, though you’re welcome to bring your own supplies.
Please note: Workshops are non-refundable after registration. A minimum number of participants is required. If the class does not run, you will receive a full refund.
