Drawing Beyond the Basics With Graphite/Charcoal

This workshop is designed for students who have completed Introduction to Drawing or who have prior experience and a solid grasp of foundational drawing concepts. We will build on your existing skills by creating more advanced works from observation, focusing on composition, proportion, value, and depth.
Using graphite and charcoal as our primary mediums, students will explore more complex subject matter from still life and observation while developing their own personal style. This workshop class will place a greater emphasis on refining techniques, enhancing visual accuracy, and understanding light and shadow.
Recommended Prerequisite:
Students should be comfortable with basic drawing principles such as contour drawing, shading techniques, value scales, and perspective.
Students are required to bring a 9x12 drawing or mixed media sketchbook. These can be purchased at any local art supply store or online through retailers like Amazon. Canson is a good choice for its quality, though Strathmore is also a great option, especially for beginners.
Participants must be at least 18 years of age to enroll in this class.
This workshop needs 3 participants to run.
