Summer Art Adventures - Ceramic Handbuilding - Pottery Palooza

Get ready to dig into clay and let your creativity take shape in this week-long hands-on pottery adventure! Each day, campers will explore a different ceramic building technique while crafting unique and imaginative pieces. No experience needed—just a willingness to get a little muddy and a lot creative!

This camp is perfect for beginning potters and also great for those with some experience who want to take their skills—and their projects—to the next level.

  • Monday: Pinch Pot Creatures – Start the week by turning simple pinch pots into wild, silly, or spooky creatures!
  • Tuesday: Coiled Containers – Learn the art of coiling to build funky and functional vases, bowls, or baskets.
  • Wednesday: Soft Slab Habitats – Use soft slabs to design whimsical homes, hideouts, or animal abodes.
  • Thursday: Hard Slab Plants & Trees – Build upright with hard slabs to create sculptural trees, plants, or forest scenes.
  • Friday: Glaze Day! – Add a splash of color as we glaze and finish our ceramic masterpieces.

Join us for a clay-filled week of creative discovery. Pieces will be kiln-fired and ready for pickup approximately 30 days after camp!

(Artists MUST BE AGE 7 on the first day of camp, and no older than age 13.)

This 1/2 day camp runs from 9 am to noon Monday-Thursday. On Friday, camp ends at 11:30 pm with an "art show." This is a special time for your child to share their work with their parents, grandparents, siblings, etc., and an opportunity for you to speak to our instructor.
THIS CAMP NEEDS 6 participants to run. If we don't meet the enrollment, you will be fully refunded. NO CANCELLATIONS FOR THIS CAMP FOR ANY REASON ONCE REGISTERED.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ ALL!

Please check your child in at 8:55 am. Pick up promptly at noon Monday-Thursday; 11:30 am on Friday. Please note that we do not offer before or after childcare.

Parking is located in the lot behind the studio and limited parking on Michigan Avenue at the front entrance to the studio. Additional parking lots can be found behind Mac's Acadian Seafood, Dan's Tavern and on any of the residential side streets.

Artists should bring a nut-free snack, and a refillable water bottle with a lid. We kindly ask that you avoid bringing fruit cups with juice, as they can be messy. First and last names should be on all personal belongings. Food may not be shared.

Important Allergy Reminder:

For the safety of all campers and our staff, please note that our camp is a peanut and tree nut-free environment. Any snack items containing these ingredients will not be permitted. We kindly ask parents and caregivers to check food labels to ensure that all food items are both peanut and tree-nut free. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in keeping everyone safe.

We welcome all aspiring artists of all ages and abilities. However, if your child requires additional assistance or needs individualized attention, please call the studio before you enroll your child in camp. While we provide support and encouragement, artists must be able to follow directions and work independently. Thank you.

I asked my daughter (6) what review she would leave and she said: “Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! Fun! I loved doing a mermaid tail painting and the sun. We did an octopus with love-you loops. Ms Joanna and Ms Hollyanne and Ms Lena and Ms Elena know a lot of techniques and I liked eating in the garden.”

Thank you for another special week - this is the highlight of our summer camps!

My son (7 years old) really enjoyed his time at Whitepine Studios. This is his 2nd year attending summer camps. He comes home so proud to show off his artwork and he loves to share all of the art techniques and facts that he learned while he was there. The staff was very kind, helpful and communicative. I highly recommend their summer camps!
